Unleash success: Elevate your service-based business with these essential website pages

Let's go beyond the design and talk about what's really going to move the needle for your service-based website!

These are some critical pieces that you should be including when crafting a website that is going to attract your dream clients. Scroll on down to learn my tried and true website structure for a business like yours.

You need to have these pages on your website

As a bare minimum, these are the pages that are included in all of my website projects:

Home page

The home page is the page that people will likely land on the most often through your social media or a Google search. The home page serves as an overview for your business and the rest of the page on your website.

Include these sections on your home page:

  • Hero banner

  • Introduction

  • Services summary (list out 3-6 of your services)

  • About You summary

  • Testimonial(s)

  • Call to Action (what is the main action you want users to take? Book a call? Send an inquiry?)

Services listing page

Add a description of your services and your process to give visitors an idea of what you can do for them and what it’s like to work with you. If your services require a lot of info that will make this page overwhelming, you can create summaries of your services on this page with buttons that link to their respective “detail” pages.

Service detail pages

If your services cannot be explained in a few short paragraphs on one page, split them up into their own pages. This also makes it easy to link back to each service individually if you’re promoting a specific service in your email marketing or social media.

What to include on your service detail pages:

  • Introduction / overview

  • What to expect

  • Who the service is for

  • A testimonial

  • FAQs

  • Call to Action

About page

You need to show your face on your website! People buy from people, so show them who you are. Include a photo of you / your team members to help visitors connect with you and your team more personally.

Some fun things to include on your About page:

  • Your story

  • Stats about your or your business

  • Your mission

  • A timeline of milestones in your life

  • Fun facts that people may not know about you

Contact page

A contact page is super important for SEO, so make sure you have a stand-alone contact page on your website. Include more than just a contact form so that people know you are a real business.

What to include on your Contact page:

  • Your office location or your general location (city or province/state) if you work from home

  • A link to your email (never list your email in plain text to avoid spam)

  • A contact form

FAQ page

A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page allows you to answer common questions on your website instead of having people contact you for information, which will save everyone a ton of time. If you don’t have enough FAQs for a full page, you can also list them on your Services or Service Detail pages.

Some common FAQs to get your started:

  • What’s included in your ____ package?

  • Do you offer [complementary service] support?

  • What is a typical project timeline?

  • How will we communicate throughout the process?

  • Do you offer payment plans?

  • Is the deposit refundable?

Privacy Policy + Terms of Use pages

A Privacy Policy page is required on all websites. It tells users how their information is used when they visit your website. A Terms of Use page is also required on all websites. It tells users how they are allowed to use your website and the information contained within it.

Instagram Links page

Driving traffic to your own website is way better for SEO, so ditch the ‘link in bio’ services and utilize your own website for this. You can easily create a mobile-friendly links page on your own website!

What to include on your links page:

  • Links to your top pages, services, and/or promotions

  • A blog summary showing your latest 3 posts

  • Share what’s in your Amazon cart if you’re signed up with Amazon Associates

  • A Call to Action to book a call, inquire, etc
